Pete - The Rake, good choice for beer - many hazy memories upon leaving there.

Mike - Brindisa - Been before, do Borough quite often so may head a bit further off the beaten track.

Lyle - Oooh Turkish, sounds good Lyle. Little 'tips' like that rock, really should check out TimeOut - so many things to do.

Definitely recommend a place I went to on Friday - Turkish restaurant in New Cross [two overground stops from London Bridge to St Johns] called Mangal Meze [sp?] just got a Time Out 2010 award on top of years of others. Cracking food, huge portions, home made bread, amazing dips and a variety of grilled skewered meats cooked in front of your mince pies. Cheap, friendly and delicious. £65 for three w drinks

Ok, Borough Market is an absolute MUST. Amazing food and drink, I recommend cheers buying at Neal's Yard and KaseSwiss then a hot salt beef sandwich with gherkins and mustard followed by a pint of something interesting at The Rake.

For a cheap, amazing, tasty dinner try Tayyabs (long queues usual) or the Lahore Kebab house and grill. Both quite close to Brick Lane.

I went to a place on Upper Street called galipoli. There are 3 of the same places more-or-less next door to each other. Was good food and great fun. Toilets were very strange but you'll have to go to experience it. Not sure which one I went to though. Certainly not the one closest to the corner. Think it was the one with the burgundy sign.

See <a href="http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?source=ig&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF8&q=gallipoli+upper+street&fb=1&gl=uk&hq=gallipoli+upper+street&hnear=England,+United+Kingdom&view=text&ei=9_FdS7z6JdOSjAexxP2bAg&ved=0CB0QtQMwAw&ll=51.537959,-0.10259&spn=0,357.618713&z=9&layer=c&cbll=51.537959,-0.10259&panoid=0Q7a-9KJD6ps99ADI3033g&cbp=12,240.51,,0,4.14" rel="nofollow">here</a> for a street view hopefully.
